A Second Lincoln CountryHouse is on track to open in June of 2011

The corner of South 25th and Old Cheney in southwest Lincoln, Nebraska proved to be the perfect location for Agemark's first CountryHouse in Lincoln (right). Next to the eminent Knolls Country Club neighborhood, this beautiful residence officially opened in April 2009 and was full with a waiting list in nine short months.

The search for another site began before the end of that first year and in September 2010 construction began on CountryHouse II at 6610 South 84th Street, across from the Pine Lake Golf Course in the burgeoning southeast part of Lincoln.

It is similar in design to the first CountryHouse, with a lovely dining room, cozy fireplace living rooms, and a private dining room. A small Pantry Kitchen will enable residents to engage in familiar food activities, and the enclosed courtyard will feature our signature patio, circulating creek and landscaping for all to enjoy.

Bedroom suites will be large enough to accommodate favorite furniture from home and there are both Private and Companion options.

There is one exciting difference. In response to a high demand for adult day care services, CountryHouse II will also feature a specially designed center to accommodate daytime visitors with Alzheimer's. This state-of-the-art area will have its own separate entry, dining room and activity areas. Day care guests will enjoy the same services afforded to residents, including a full activity program, transportation, health care, and delicious meals.

Most importantly, CountryHouse II will be staffed with the most incredibly caring people in town. Just like CountryHouse I.

Reservations for the new CountryHouse have already been accepted; to learn more please call (402) 421-1160.

Proposal for our newest venture moves forward in Orinda, CA

Agemark's newest project, Astoria at Wilder, is one step closer to approval after the Orinda City Council authorized an Environmental Impact Review during its January meeting.

The Craftsman-style, 45-unit, "boutique" assisted living community will be situated on a 1.1-acre lot between Wilder Road and the eastbound Highway 24 onramp. According to long-time Orinda resident and Agemark President Richard Westin, "I've always wanted to bring something like this to Orinda. It will be upscale and gorgeous; it will fulfill the needs of the elderly and be what their adult children really want."

Astoria at Wilder will accommodate 34 assisted living and 15 memory care residents. Features include many special amenities and a full array of services, plus transportation to keep residents engaged in the surrounding community.

"To this day," says Westin, "I am just infatuated with what I do. I love making a difference in people's lives. One of our company's mantras is whenever we say goodnight to one of our residents, we fully understand that it might be good-bye. So we try to make every day a special day. That kind of passion is displayed in whatever we do -- giving a bath, reading to residents, or preparing meals. It's a very rewarding business."

If all goes according to plan, construction could begin in 2012 and the residence will be ready for occupancy by March of 2013.
